Hyperactivity and attention deficit Hyperactivity and attention deficit are behavioural deviations occurring in childhood - these are manifested in restless motions that lead to loss of concentration of attention and considerable difficulties in accomplishing structured tasks. Main symptoms are: attention deficit, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. These symptoms arise in early childhood and usually continue throughout maturity. The hyperactive children are very agile. They often break discipline and order at home and school, they run, jump, climb, spin, constantly talk and move and sometimes become uncontrollable. Usually they are impulsive and are characterised by drastic and sudden mood swings. The main deficits in hyperactive children are the cognitive ones: those of perceptions, attention, memory and thinking. There are deviations in the perception of space, constructive praxis, problems in the SL development and other deficits of High Cortical Function level. The decreased concentration and attention distribution are secondary, as a result of over fatigue and stress following the inability to cope with given tasks. The child can be hyperactive and having attention deficit, and at the same time, to have the inability to acquire learning skills, or he/she can have only one of these groups of problems - biological and psychological causes for behavioural problems. Hyperkinetic Behavioural Deviations"Hyperkinetic Behavioural Deviation" is caused when hyperkinetism and behavioural disorders are both present and when the hyperactivity in children is profound. Lighter forms of hyperactivity and attention deficit are usual within children with behavioural problems. Hyperactivity in childhood can provoke later in life an anti-social personality disorder. |
