The objectives of the Department comprise early diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention, socialisation of children with special needs or learning difficulties, consultation and education (training) of parents as co - therapists and easy access to therapy. Specialists are available to quickly and effectively meet patient's requirements.

The creation of a suitable environment for children with special needs, equal opportunities in society and the active influence on their motor, psychological, speech and learning abilities is the main goal of the Department.

CBCID takes care of children from all over Bulgaria. Specialists and Diagnostic - Therapeutic staff decide on the strategies and tactics necessary for interventions. They also collaborate with other sectors and departments of the SHRPTRCC.

The Department is housed in consulting rooms located on both areas of the SHRPTRCC. Area 1 situated on the 2nd floor, comprises the consulting rooms for speech and language pathologists ( SLP ), special education provider (SEP) and a Montessori Therapist. Within the same building on the 3rd floor, there are consulting rooms of the Head of Department and the Speech and Language therapists. The consulting rooms are all signed and numbered accordingly.

The consulting rooms are equipped with the necessary materials and technical devices such as computers with modern software, oro - facial mechanisms, and dental showers.

The consulting rooms are adapted to the specificity of patients' disorders. Ergonomically adapted, positional - therapeutic chairs and working tables are provided. The therapeutic interventions are strictly adapted to the patients' needs, and not vice versa.

The Team of Specialists
